Facilities & Rooms

We will create a welcoming and positive ethos within a safe and stimulating environment where each individual feels cared for and valued. We will have high expectations, celebrate achievement, value diversity and promote equality in all areas of our work. We will engage with our immediate and wider community in order to create partnerships which will enable us to provide broad and balanced learning experiences for all. Our nursery provides a safe, pleasant and stimulating environment which promotes active learning.
Our facilities include:

a secure entry system.

disabled access.

an outdoor area catering for all age ranges.

We do like to chat with parents about your child’s day at the end of their session, but if you have any concerns we operate an open door policy and can be contacted at anytime.
When your child joins the nursery you may be curious to know what your child will be learning while playing each day.

Both the Pre-Birth to three and the Curriculum for Excellence provide opportunities for your child to become involved in tasks and activities that will extend your child’s learning. To do this the staff will observe your child and speak to you about your child’s interests. They will then plan experiences for the children to learn, have fun, with those interests in mind; we aim to encourage children to be independent, confident and responsible for their own learning.

We recognise that Parents are the child’s primary educators and we appreciate and value any input parents can give to enable an effective partnership.

Learning for Life

‘Children are provided with opportunities to develop skills for learning, skills for life and skills for work’ (L&T Scot). Children learn through curiosity, personal motivation and interest.

Children engage in the learning process and then want to know more. Staff encourage this involvement and build on what the child already knows to provide learning opportunities for the children to explore new ideas and thoughts.

Staff focus on improving literacy, numeracy and health and well being, which are skills that will underpin all learning. Through this, your child will be encouraged to think and problem solve, evaluate and review their own learning.

Outdoor Play

Our establishment adopts an outdoors to learning approach and children will have access to the outdoor environment all day every day regardless of weather conditions. All children must have access to fresh air and physical exercise; we will not exclude any child from playing outdoors.

All parents must provide appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather. Weatherproof Jackets, Wellington Boots, Hats, Scarves, Sun Hats etc. We also would like to remind parents that a change of clothing should always be provided for your child as accidents do happen. Nursery uniforms are also available to order from the office.

Health and well-being
Being active is a big part of healthy living. We value children’s needs for exercise and recognise the benefits it has on a child’s overall development. Children receive opportunities for outdoor and indoor physical play at least twice per day. Regular physical play encourages children to live healthier lifestyles, builds on abilities, greater understanding of games and rules, builds confidence, self awareness, determination and helps children learn about their environment. Our garden has separate areas for each age group with various resources appropriate for different age groups.
The Nursery uses the ‘Nutritional Guidelines’ set by Scotland Government and have a four week menu plan. This is displayed in the hallway at the entrance and will be included in your child’s daily report. We take into account all dietary stages and allergy requirements to meet the individual needs of every child.
